This is a up-to-date D3 Monk Build for patch 1.0.7. It’s the perfect build for gaining those paragon levels as fast as possible, while still being able to take down elite mobs quickly.

Fists of Thunder – Thunderclap
This build really comes down to spirit regen, so Fist of Thunder is perfect for it. Thunderclap helps you get around faster while doing aoe damage.
Sweeping Wind – Cyclone
Does fantastic aoe damage to targets, and won’t need to be refreshed the majority of the time. Cyclone just provides extra damage.
Blinding Flash – Faith in the Light
Works great against normal mobs, but is primarly in the build for elites. The chance to miss is a godsend against the tougher packs.
Mantra of Conviction – Submission
Provides a lot of extra damage, and is really the only Manta you should be using.
Dashing Strike – Way of the Falling Star
Great way to keep mobs back while you regen life. Having Way of the Falling Star will dramatically increase your run time.
Tempest Rush – Tailwind
This is the backbone of the build. Once you get the spirit regen and the gear you’re able to Tempest Rush the entire time. Tailwind is the only rune you should be using with it, as the extra speed is a must have.

It can be very tricky in Diablo 3 knowing what stats are vital and which ones aren’t. Most new players tend to just go for dexterity/vitality/resist and call it a day, but if you’ve been playing for awhile you know that’s not gonna work. Even if you know what stats you need you still might not know which ones you should be going for first, so I have made a list of which Monk stats you should be getting in order of priority.

Weapon Damage – Increase your damage with skills
The reason why this is so important in D3 is because your skills do a percentage of your weapon damage, so obviously the more weapon damage you have the better. That’s why it’s always better to get a high dps weapon with low stats then vice versa.
Dexterity – Increase damage and dodge
With Seize the Initiative passive you can even increase your armor by having Dexterity, so it’s a VERY useful stat to get. With most Monk Builds your gonna want this on every piece of gear you can.
Crit Chance – Increases your chance of getting a critical hit
This is really nice to have with crit damage, so make sure your stacking both. Where most people go wrong is the ratio of crit hit to crit damage. I think it works best at around 1:6 to 1:7, so if you have 30% critical chance you should have at least 180% critical damage. Of course if you have the gold you can’t go wrong with way more crit damage.
Crit Damage – Increases critical hit damage
Focus on crit hit first, then damage. It’s way more expensive to find plus crit hit gear, then plus crit damage gear. Also if you have tons of crit damage with little to no crit chance it won’t matter at all.
Attack Speed – Speeds up attack and animation
Get this where you can. It’s always nice to have, but it’s not a necessity in most builds.
Resist – Reduces damage form certain attacks
Once you hit Inferno this is very important. I always use the One with Everything passive to help out. Just focus on one resist and try to get it on all your gear. It saves a lot of gold just using the passive.
Armor – Reduces damage from all attacks
This is very nice to have, but I wouldn’t stack it like you would resist. If you see items with plus armor go for them. It really helps in the long run.
Vitality – Increase health pool
You want this on all your gear, but don’t go overboard thinking you need to sacrifice other stats for this. If you have no resist, but 100k health your still going to get 2 shotted later on in Inferno.

Yes, it’s very important to have the right Monk Build when playing D3, but it’s just as important to know your weaknesses when playing. I have well over 140 hours on my Monk thus far and I can tell you we have quite a lot of them, so below you will find all the tips, tricks, and strategies I use when playing my Monk.

1. Kiting is always a option
One of the biggest hurdles I had when I started playing my Monk was knowing when to run. Normally when you play a melee character you go toe to toe until someone dies, usually them. But in D3 it’s quite different. You need to learn to kite, so you can wait on cooldowns and health to replenish while fighting harder mobs.
2. You DON’T have to use a shield in Inferno
Don’t let anyone tell you it isn’t. I normally like to use one, but I’ve used Monk Builds where I didn’t and still did okay. It’s all about using your skills to make up for the defense and focusing on stats that will give you dodge and speed.
3. One with Everything passive is OP
Yes, I think it’s very overpowered. I’m shocked how many Monks don’t use it. All you do is pick one resist and stack it, so you save tons of money not going for all resist gear. Don’t stack physical resist though because Barbarians tend to go for that.
4. Spirit regeneration is important
No matter what Monk Build you use always have some kind of spirit regen skill. Having that and a healing skill will be very important in Inferno, especially in the later acts.
5. Once you hit Inferno the most important items to get are weapons.
They will always give you the most bang for your buck. Focus on getting really high dps ones with low stats because they are very cheap. Later on you can start upgrading them after you get the rest of your gear.
